A view of the future by Robert & Brenda Vale

This series of slides shows a potential future by Robert and Brenda Vale, professors of architecture at Victoria University. The Vales have been promoting sustainable housing and urban design, especially in relation to energy requirements, for many years. Their ideas give us an insight into the world where oil availability decreases and a concerted effort is made to substitute some of the services it currently provides. They describe how that future could evolve for people wanting to travel from Auckland to Dunedin and beyond. Other futures may unfold but the more renewable energy and energy conservation they provide; the more likely they are to be plausible, or possible.
