Peak Oil and the Four Futures

What will be our future after peak oil? How will our jobs, lives, and the overall economy be impacted?

In this 20 minute presentation, expert peak oil educator Tim Hudson defines the four futures after peak oil, and explains how to create a personal post peak oil profile by assigning probabilities to the four scenarios. Personal peak oil profiles are useful in both assessing one's own current expectations for the future as well as better understanding the beliefs and expectations of others.

Tim Hudson created this talk drawing from many sources including peak oil books written by Richard Heinberg. This talk was recorded in high definition at the Conference on Michigan's Future: Energy, Economy and Environment, held at Crystal Mountain Resort over the weekend of 15 November 2008.

This video references sources like Richard Heinberg, David Holmgren (Co-founder of Permaculture) is likely to appeal to people interested in the dynamics and psychology of change. An enlightened look at how we move through different views of the potential future with an acknowledgement that it all changes based on various information that comes to hand, our internal process (references Elisabeth Kübler-Ross and the stages of death and dying). By recognising that people stand at different points can be helpful in allowing us to have open dialogue (a conversation with a centre not side), embracing diversity and being inclusive, across many points of view.
