Otara Design the FutureDay 2 | |
Welcome
We recapped some of the future challenges, the Funnel and what might be needed for a sustainable future. |
In small groups, we discussed what we want for the future of Otara. Each group captured this as a tree diagram. On the roots, each group indicated three factors we considered most important.
The Natural Step model also uses the Tree as a metaphor for creating a sustainable Vision. The roots are the System Conditions or principles for sustainability. |
We clarified what would make a compelling Vision for Otara. |
We applied the principle of Backcasting, to work out what milestones would need to be achieved by 2035, to get to a vision for 2060. One example showed how community hubs might develop in time. |
Once milestones were clear, we worked backwards to identify actions that we would need to take to achieve these.
In our closing circle, each participant in the workshop shared their hopes and intentions for continuing this conversation for the future of Otara.
All contributions were appreciated. Close of workshop. |
