• Many function of LG relate to climate change

• Under the RMA regional councils and city and district councils are responsible for Integrated management of natural and physical resources
  Management of the effects of land use
  Avoiding and mitigating natural hazards

• Regional councils and city and district councils are responsible for developing policy and plans under the RMA and LGA

• They also process resource consent applications  for developments and to use resources and our district and city councils are also responsible for approving subdivisions and building permits

• Councils also provide and maintaining infrastructure

• They have civil defence responsibilities

• And in particular our city and district councils are the first port of call for the community in terms of advice and information about climate change
