New Zealand has an abundance of renewable energy but needs to use more local small scale approaches, eg. mini-hydro, increased distributed energy generation from the sun, either directly from water heating or by capturing the sun’s energy for photovoltaics.

We can do more with less by

• better insulated homes,
• more efficient transport methods,
• even what we eat, with meat being very energy intensive, and being careful about what we buy.
