• These projected numbers of jobs required are based on an assumption of continuing economic growth of similar types of business to those which exist today.
• However, the rate of job creation may not keep pace with population growth and other demographic changes, nor with workforce skill levels.
• Furthermore, while new technologies may bring job opportunities that do not even exist yet, declining resource availability, climate change and other global trends, may mean continued economic growth is not feasible.
• Considering alternate scenarios, educating for resilience, and fostering an openness to new learning are probably our best preparation for such unknowns.
