Welcome to Towards 2060!!

This project, based in Manukau, New Zealand, was facilitated by Manukau City Council on behalf of it's Tomorrow's Manukau partnership, for the Community.  The project took place prior to the formation of Auckland Council in November 2010, through Design the Future workshops.  These provided opportunities to:

• Inform, stimulate and provoke community discussion about the long term future
• Study opportunities for commercial and social development which incorporate our increasing population
• Examine global to local trends or significant drivers of change and their potential effects
• Trigger individual and collective actions to develop living patterns which will be sustainable in the longer term, in the light of those drivers of change

References on this website to Tomorrow's Manukau and Community Boards, are based on the legacy Manukau City Council area.  Nevertheless, most of the material on this website is still highly relevant to communities wishing to prepare for the longer term.  While we don’t know what’s in the future, we can still have a vision of:

·     what’s possible

·     what’s preferable 

·     what's plausible

and consider how to achieve that vision.  This website provides many tools for exploring such matters.
